Disney's Epcot Center International Flower & Garden Festival 2008 Walt Disney World - Lake Buena Vista, Florida
It's 2 a.m., rainy, cold and there is a crew of Pond Guys up to their elbows in mud. Doesn't sound like your typical Disney experience, huh? Well, even without the usual warm weather that is synonymous with Florida, Atlantis still brought "Pond Sexy" to Disneys Epcot, sportin' our Crocs at Mickey's pad, all while building cutting edge water features that are laying the groundwork for the future of Greenscaping.
Under the expert tutelage of Ed Beaulieu from Aquascape Inc., a task force of 12 Certified Aquascape Contractors from across the nation was assembled to construct water features that harnessed rainwater runoff from roofs and landscapes of a typical homestead, and recycle that water for multiple landscape tasks with minimal encroachment on city water supplies. This technology is called Rainwater Harvesting and is a step in the right direction towards making a positive impact on our environment and the future of water conservation and usage.
"Rainwater Harvesting will be a priority initiative for us in the coming years," says Jaak Harju "we will take the opportunity to implement this technology as much as possible in our residential and commercial projects. It fits our mold and has given me a new sense of purpose and passion towards our company direction and our impact on this industry as it relates to the world we will be leaving for our children."
