This aquatic oasis has been the backyard classroom of Atlantis Watergardens for over 8 years. It belongs to Jaak, JoAnn, Colby & Anthony Harju. Here's what Jaak had to say about his piece of paradise:

You know that old saying: "The shoemaker's children are always the last to get shoes." Well, the same can be said for my pond, it's always the last one to get attention. So in the spring of '07 I decided to go ahead and make the time for some much needed upgrades on my 8 year old water garden.

I was in desperate need of shelter for my 20+ koi, as they have fallen victim to heron attacks for a number of years, so the first order of business was to retrofit a fish cave. With that successfully accomplished, all of the small boulders that framed the top shelf of the pond were removed and we installed large character boulders (some weighing well over 1,000 lbs.) and choice pieces of aged driftwood to create bog areas and make the transition from aquatic to terrestrial a little more seamless. With this new configuration, some new lights were needed, including one positioned inside the cave to create a "mysterious glow" during night viewing (Really cool!!)

All in all this was a fun project and I'm glad we finally took the time to give our old pond some TLC, after all, we own a water garden company dangit!
